Dear earth lovers,
I think I know you more than you realize. You love the outdoors, the fresh air, the open space, and how it challenges you physically and mentally. Nature energizes, refreshes, and inspires you. There’s nothing else like it. That’s why when you see the news about environmental disasters, toxic pollution (or hello, a pandemic?), you experience a deep sense of sadness and powerlessness about the state of the planet.
You feel hopeless. You feel small. You feel like you’re “just one person.” Well I’m here to tell you that “one person” is all it takes - with the right training.
But let’s talk about what’s gotten you here.
Have you tried to fix the problem and gotten nowhere? Maybe you tried…
❌ Talking to your friends and family (or even strangers) about sustainability and ended up getting angry because they just don’t get it.
❌ Working an environmentally-related job and became burned out.
❌ Deciding to devote your time to environmentalism only to realize that you don’t actually know where to start or what direction to take.
❌ Posting on social media about global issues only to get no responses or worse, comments attacking your point of view.
❌ Committing to climate promises through your work but don’t know how to actually achieve them.
❌ Going to a protest and walked away thinking it didn’t help anything at all.
❌ Doing everything you’ve been told to do to protect the environment yet you can’t help but wonder if it’s all too late.
I see you and I hear you, because I’ve been where you are.
Why do I care so much? Who am I to be helping you with this?
10 years ago, I was extremely burned out from my job as an Arctic Ecologist.
As a passionate new university grad with publications and awards under my belt, I got my first dream job working with one of the best Arctic ecology labs in the world. I spent 2 months working in the breathtaking Canadian Arctic. But what I saw about the reality of climate change really depressed me.
I left the field altogether and barely participated in climate-related work for the next 10 years.
I went on a career adventure, becoming:
● An internationally-published fashion & portrait photographer.
● A corporate English consultant for executives in major French-Canadian companies.
● A published & award-winning linguistics professor teaching media, communications, and learning strategies in Tokyo.
● A UX design and design-thinking consultant for educational software.
● A certified career and academic advisor for university students.
I travelled all over the world and had a blast living my dreams doing exactly what I want!
But my first love of ecology and creating a better planet stayed with me.
One day, I came across a question that helped me make the connection between career and sustainability coaching:
“I want to change careers to do something to help fight climate change-related woes. Is it worth the time to get another degree?”
Reading this connected everything I had done up to that point – ecology, education, career and academic advising, design, problem-solving. Elated, I began my climate coaching journey that day and I have been working on it ever since.
I also reclaimed my climate activism power. I slowly realized that ecology was not the right path for my activism after all - but coaching is! The impact of making the shift was dramatic. Ecology left me in a state of inaction for almost 10 years, but I have never felt more empowered towards my activism thanks to coaching.
So, I want you to also be able to say clearly and proudly: _________ is how I will contribute to the world. (Blank could look like anything – let’s find out together!)
I know what it's like to design the life you want and get it. With the right guidance and mindset, I absolutely believe you can make your wildest (even world-changing) dreams come true.
so how can green growth coaching help?
who’s charlotte lin and what’s this “green growth” stuff? well, let me tell you!
I’m Charlotte and I help sustainability-minded professionals use their talents and skills to make a difference in the world by achieving their personal, professional and environmental goals.
Those three things together = green growth. (Click to see the wordy academic definition by the OCED, or just stay here, where I make everything simple for you!)
Think of me as your self-help sherpa, with just as much focus on the outdoors, growth and achievement (but maybe a little more mental mountain climbing than physical mountain climbing.)
What makes my approach different?
⭐️ I take a light-hearted approach towards sustainability, which is too-often a scary and heavy topic.
⭐️ I use a holistic approach to help you build your sustainable life. If you want to do something for environmental sustainability, your life has to be sustainable, too.
⭐️ It is my mission to affirm, inspire, and nurture creativity in myself and others. I see creativity as the foundation for great problem-solving.
⭐️ Your personality and uniqueness is the number one thing that matters to me when we design your sustainable life.
⭐️ Helping people become calm and centered is my superpower.
⭐️ My unique blend of Western and Eastern knowledge and ways of thinking will provide you with fresh perspectives that you won’t get anywhere else.
⭐️ I deeply care about the success of my students and clients, and will go above and beyond to help you make you reach your goals.
